About that first remark of this commenter - they're right. It doesn't just seem like the mama cat lost her meowgnificent fluff, it really is just like that. When cats get sick, just like this mama (who also needed to nurse two kitties throughout all summer and more), they stop grooming themselves, or at least do it scarcely. This leads to their fur becoming dull, matted, or simply looking unkempt. Just think of your hair when you didn't wash it for a few days - it's a similar effect. Also, sickness in cats can trigger a stress response, which makes them shed more fur. All that together makes a coat look not as fluffy as it could've been. But now? Now she's becoming a fluffy queen again.
